The Call

A question was asked at the mission committee meeting: Why can’t we go on mission just like the young people in our English congregation?

With that we began to explore a mission location 4 years ago. However the search came up empty because most places presented to us required the speaking of Mandarin.

• About 18 months ago, at a meeting in Toronto, the needs for Venezuela were presented and that the Chinese in that country predominantly speak Cantonese.
• Again last March at a meeting here at church, Pastor Johnny Wan from CCM, asked if I will lead a team to Venezuela. We talked at length of the needs there.
• In September, a missionary just returned from Venezuela came to our church and presented the needs of that country.
• During this time, over a dozen people from our church received evangelism training to present the gospel message to the unbelievers.

The call to Venezuela became louder with each event. Last November Pastor Wan was invited to our church to share with those who were equipped in evangelism training. From these people, the mission team to Venezuela was formed.

The mission team leader is Pastor Johnny Wan from CCM, who had made numerous trips to Venezuela. Pastor Andrew Wu, who had experience serving in Asia and Europe, will be the team pastor. The team members are: Deacon Edmond Hui, Sylvia Lee, Winnie Li and Wachel Ung. They were part of the outreach team to Hawaii.

We are a team of people who responded to the call of God. Although we have met numerous time for equipping and training, but we are far from a team of elite warriors. We seek your prayer support.

Prayer Items:

1. God will work His will through His vessels

2. We will experience the overwhelming love of our God for the lost on this trip

3. We will have ample opportunities to share the good news of Jesus with those we come in contact

4. We will be able to encourage the faith of the local Christians

呼召

在一次差傳部例會，有人提問：「我們為甚麼不能像英文部的年青人出去傳福音？」

為此，我們在四年前開始物色一個差傳的地點。但幾乎每個給我們考慮的地點都要求用普通話，因而順延了計劃。

這時，神在我們在不覺中已預備了本堂去回應祂的呼召：

• 大約在年半之前，當吳牧師在多倫多出席一個會議，其間提出委內瑞拉的需要，而當地華人操廣東話為主。

• 再者，去年三月在本堂一次聚會中，中信之溫以壯牧師鼓勵吳牧師考慮帶領一短宣隊到委內瑞拉。他們深入討論到當地的需要。

• 在九月，一位剛從委內瑞拉回來的宣教士到本堂分享當地的需要。

• 同一期間，有超過十多位會友接受了向未信之人傳福音的培訓。

      呼召到委內瑞拉的聲音在每一件事情上更覺響亮。去年十一月，溫牧師應邀到本堂與曾裝備去傳福音的會友分享。到委內瑞拉的短宣隊遂告誕生。短宣隊由曾多次到委國的溫牧師帶領；隊牧是吳牧師，他曾在歐亞從事跨文化宣教多年；隊員有許紹煌執事，李黃少玲，陳李瑞雲和黃區麗雲姐妹，他們都曾到夏威夷作短宣。

我們是一隊對神呼召作回應的人。雖然我們曾努力去裝備和接受培訓，但仍有許多不足之處，我們都期盼你們用禱告支持。

2. 我們將經歷神對失喪者豐盛的慈愛
3. 我們將有許多機會與相遇的人分享耶穌的佳音
4. 我們能激發起當地基督徒的信心
